Aaron McLaurine continues to use boxing to help the youth in the Lima community.
He is in the midst of holding his annual boxing boot camp at his gym New Look Fitness which is home to the Soldiers of Honor. McLaurine aims to use this program to keep kids out of trouble and off the streets, teach boxing technique and teach life skills. The boot camp is a six-week program that he started about ten years ago. After McLaurine's boxing coach passed away he wanted to pass down what his coach taught him. Age isn't a factor for his boot camp as he said his youngest student is four and his oldest is 91-years-old.
"We all fight the different fight in life," McLaurine said. "At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter your age. You just come down here and get a good workout in and it's a good social place. A lot of positivity."
After ten years for the program, McLaurine said it is finally starting to grow.
