LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It has been serving residents of Lima since the 1930s and is now seeing a new breath of life to meet the needs of people now and beyond.
The Bradfield Community Center taking time to thank those who are making the changes at the "Brad" possible. The center offers not only year-round classes for youth but also for seniors and anyone in between. Some noticeable changes are the new basketball courts and bleachers outside with the new parking area. Changes to come will be a renovation to the gymnasium. The projects are possible to in-kind work of local contractors and $350,000 from the state's 2022 capital budget.
"It really does provide a lot of services and I think that's why we can take on some of the heavy capital costs that a place like Bradfield will come upon time to time it's important. There's just so many services here," said Senator Matt Huffman, (R) Ohio Senate President.
"We hear stories all the time about people growing up at the Bradfield. We fill that void and we really want to have people and kids especially back here. You know kids are struggling today and they have all kinds of issues and we think that we can be a part of that. Along with the school district and supporting kids and their families and having them a safe place to come," Robin Frazier, president of the Bradfield Community Association.
Frazier says they are looking forward to 2024 and an announcement of a partnership with a national organization and the Bradfield Community Center.
