Changes Made in Court For a Lima Teen Charged With Murder

The Lima teen charged with the murder of Daveon Petaway was in Common Pleas Court Wednesday afternoon, but that will be the last time he will be in that courtroom.

In December, 17- year-old Albert McDowell pleaded guilty in Allen County Common Pleas Court to voluntary manslaughter with a gun specification, he was expected to be sentenced on that charge later this month. But last week, his attorney filed a motion to have his case moved back to the Allen County Juvenile Court, meaning that he will be sentenced as a juvenile instead of an adult. Judge David Cheney granted that motion and McDowell's case will be sentenced at a later date.

McDowell was originally charged with two counts of murder and a felonious assault charge, before he got his charges reduced to voluntary manslaughter.
