A local church is giving some warmth and comfort to some local veterans.
The Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center made and donated blankets to the Lima Veterans Administration Clinic. Then the clinic will hand out the blankets to the veterans that need them. Members of the church say they were motivated by the Lord to take on this project and make 60 blankets. They did it because the veterans give so much, they wanted to give back.
“Fifteen people came to church, we worked from 9 o’clock in the morning to 1 o’clock or so in the afternoon, cutting and tying. It was just great,” said Linda Jenkins, Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center.
“They’ve sacrificed their time with their family a lot of them their lives. A lot of them come back with a lot of issues and this is something to give back for something that they have done,” said Shannon McClure, Lima VA Clinic.
“The weather is getting colder and a lot of them don’t have places to stay. So this will help them stay warm," said Susan Debelo, Lima VA Clinic.
The church will also be taking part of the 60 blankets they made down to the Dayton VA hospital, to help veterans down there.
