Congressman Jordan also made stops to talk to business leaders in Delphos and Convoy today.

Jordan heard from local government, business, and education leaders about the impact both documented and undocumented Haitian immigrants are having on resources. They estimate that around 2,000 asylum seekers are working or living in Allen County. Officials say many families are living in overcrowded and run-down homes and suspect some are victims of labor trafficking. They add that in some cases, the need for translators is putting strain on budgets and slowing down their ability to serve everyone.

Jordan heard from local government, business, and education leaders about the impact both documented and undocumented Haitian immigrants are having on resources.

"The undocumented folks that we're seeing come through our door do create somewhat of a burden on resources because the language barrier takes a lot longer to serve them, and then a lot of the times we go through the entire application process and then they're not able to be served. Probably 1 out of 8 do not have the proper documentation, so there's not a lot we can do for them at that point," said Joe Patton, executive director of OhioMeansJobs Allen County.

"No more building the wall; no more remain in Mexico while we evaluate people claiming asylum while we evaluate their claims, and then once you get to our country, you will not be detained; you will be paroled. And then show up in three or four years for your court date. Well, that's not how our system is supposed to work, but that's what the Biden administration has done," said Jim Jordan, U.S. Representative (R-OH).
