The Delphos Chamber of Commerce Canal Days Committee and the Delphian Social Club went in together to buy the former Cintas property in downtown Delphos.
The property cost $67,000 dollars, paid for through fundraising, private donations, and a grant. A five to six year plan for the land includes building an amphitheater as well as restrooms and a storage facility for Canal Days. The area will be fenced in but will be open for groups beyond Canal Days to use. Canal Days Chair Chad Schrader says they are hoping the addition will attract more foot traffic in the downtown area.
"We're hoping for more business, we definitely want more people to move in," says Schrader. "But, we got to get the people here first to see what we have to offer."
Work on the property could begin as early as this coming spring.
