Delphos hears the latest on the potential merger of Allen County water and sewer districts

A presentation at the City of Delphos Council meeting Monday night showcased the latest in the progress towards a possible merger of the Allen County Water and Sewer districts.

Representatives from both departments presented to council members a feasibility study on combining the two entities. They're asking council for support of that idea. Since three council members were absent, no motion was passed, and the representatives will return at next council meeting to talk about this again.

"Currently there are 2 districts in place already. The thought process is just to combine them, it would streamline things and make things a little more economical. It's a valid idea, something that we want to look into, and make sure we have all of our ducks in a row before we would put any support out there," said Shane Coleman, Safety Service Director with the City of Delphos.

If the two did merge, it would affect all residents in the City of Delphos, not just the residents living within the Allen County limits of the city. Also at the meeting, a loan was granted for new filters for the waste water treatment plant. The city will use the loan to buy additional filters to ease the strain on the system, which is maxed out.
