Experiment gone wrong teacher headed towards termination

A Lima City School teacher involved in an experiment that injured more than a dozen students is on the path to being fired.

The Lima City Board of Education approving a recommendation from Superintendent Jill Ackerman to fire teacher Tanya Jacobs.  The board will officially vote on her termination at a later meeting.  Ackerman says a lengthy investigation revealed Jacobs did not follow protocols while conducting an experiment on water conditions and theTtitanic with students at North Middle School.  The May 20th incident led to 13 students being injured.  One was sent to a burn unit in Cincinnati, and another was transferred by helicopter to Toledo.

Jacobs will be given written notice of the recommendation.  She will have the opportunity to appeal the decision and ask for a hearing on the matter.
