LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Public Library was bustling with excitement this morning for Family Friday Story Time!
In addition to listening to stories, the kids had the chance to explore a Lima Police Department cruiser and golf cart.
The theme was "Community Helpers," where various community leaders, including Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith, Lima police officers, and Lima firefighters, all visited, showing the children what they do. In addition to listening to stories, the kids had the chance to explore a Lima Police Department cruiser and golf cart, along with some dancing with Patches the Fire Dog.
The free program is aimed toward preschool and early grade school kids.
We talked with one mom about why having this event is important for our children.
"I support any like hands-on learning rather that's story time by other people and getting to see some of the police cars and anything that they can associate than just reading a book is always nice to have them involved in," said Stephanie Keske, a mom who brought her son to Family Friday Story Time.
