They are dedicated to helping homeless families get back on their feet and new grants may help families not reach the point of homelessness.
Family Promise of Lima-Allen County receiving a $20,000 from Washington State-based non-profit "Help Us Move In". It's a $20,000, 2-year matching grant that will help Family Promise provide assistance to families facing a housing crisis that can help them stay in their homes. Only 10 out of 220 Family Promise programs across the nation received the grant and Family Promise of Lima-Allen County is the only one in Ohio getting funds. The agency works with other non-profits in the region to provide the assistance needed for families to achieve and sustain independence.
The executive director of Family Promise, Russ Thomas, also says they're looking at a United Way Innovation Grant that would allow them to renovate the house they have on South Main Street, as a dedicated Family Promise Daycare Center. The center would be able to take care of up to 30 children, allowing their parents to focus on finding work and housing.
