ASHLAND, Ohio (WLIO) — For the first time in nearly two decades, the University of Findlay football team came away victorious in Ashland.
The No. 9 Oilers defeated No. 15 Ashland University, 14–3, to clinch at least a share of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) title and secure a spot in the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Findlay struck first when Jayden Farmer powered into the end zone from one yard out. Later in the first half, quarterback Chase Harrison connected with Brennan Remy for a three-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14–0.
The Oilers’ defense did the rest. In the fourth quarter, Jayon Harvey came up with a key interception to halt any comeback attempt by the Eagles.
Findlay improves to 10-0 and the Oilers now turn their attention to the annual "Battle of 224" Rivalry versus Tiffin University.
