First day of spring also begins allergy season

With today(3/20/18) being the first day of Spring, a new season arrives and bringing with it the possibilities of allergies.

Abbie Nartker of Mercy Health said that although our Ohio weather is unpredictable, you may see some landscape start to bloom. With that, you could notice an issue with allergies. She recommends beginning checking pollen levels when you start your day if they're an issue for you. Nartker recommends if you are dealing with allergies to use over the counter medicine such as antihistamines or nasal sprays.

"If you know grass bothers you, you should maybe close your windows in the house," said Nartker. "If you notice your neighbors are cutting their grass, certainly if your kids suffer from it, keep them inside while you yourself are cutting the grass. When you come in from being outside, take a shower to help get the pollen off of you."

Nartker said if allergy symptoms get so severe that you develop a fever or chills, that's when you should go see your doctor.
