LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) —Habitat for Humanity Lima held its annual volunteer and donor awards tonight, recognizing the people who kept its mission going through 2025.
This year, the organization says it’s proud to have helped 10 families get new roofs and to have kept its ReStore busy, which supports its mission to provide affordable housing in the Lima area. Leaders say volunteer labor and community giving are the backbone of everything they do.
“We are driven by volunteerism. And like a lot of organizations, we rely on volunteers to help us be able to afford what we do. Generosity is the key to most organizations that work within the community trying to help with special needs, and we couldn't do what we do without our volunteers. They're just a blessing, and we're thrilled to be able to say a few things to them tonight to say thank you,” said Bruce Hilty, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Lima Area.
Looking ahead to 2026, Habitat plans to build at least two new homes and continue its “Shingles of Hope” roofing program.
