The Lafayette-Jackson Township fire department is calling an early morning house fire a total loss.
They responded to a nine-one-one from a neighbor around 5:40 Thursday morning at 1380 N. Phillips Rd. Upon arrival the structure was fully engulfed in flames with a partial roof collapse.
An investigation has led to the belief the home was vacant the time of the fire and the cause is being ruled as undetermined. The Harrod, West Minster and Beaverdam Fire Departments were called in for mutual aid with tankers and manpower. React was on the scene due to the wind blowing flames and smoke across the road. The fire remains under investigation.
