LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - 31-year-old Gervens Justilien pleaded not guilty to the charges of aggravated murder, murder, rape, and strangulation for the death of 26-year-old Christlande Auguste. If found guilty, he could face life in prison and possible deportation. Talking through an interpreter, Justilien says his country of origin was Chile, but he came from Haiti and was here in the United States under temporary protective status. Auguste was from Haiti and was here under the same authorization, awaiting an asylum hearing. Her autopsy says she died from blunt force trauma and strangulation in a home she was living in on Makely Drive. Justilien is in the Allen County jail on a $3 million bond; another pretrial hearing has been set for July.
