LIMA, OH (WLIO) - On Tuesday night, Lima City Council began their 3-day budget hearings for fiscal year 2025.

The budget currently highlights $25.8 million for safety services, which represents 51% of total expenses for 2025. $2.9 million are planning to go toward housing development and rehabilitation with economic development costing around $2.7 million dollars. The city plans to spend $500,000 dollars for traffic safety improvements and around $360,000 for youth development. After Tuesday night's first hearing, we learned more about the city's current revenue status for 2024 and goals for 2025.

After Tuesday night's first hearing, we learned more about the city's current revenue status for 2024 and goals for 2025.

"We have projected revenue increases. We are seeing below budget spending resulting in a budget surplus for 2024. Moving into 2025, we continue to prioritize fiscal responsibility along side strategic investments, attainable housing, youth development, public services as well as public safety," says Meredith Foster, Director of Finance, City of Lima.
