LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Lima councilman is making one final push for air conditioner donations to help elderly and at-risk residents stay safe during the summer heat.

Sixth Ward Councilman Derry Glenn said the community has shown tremendous support for the air conditioner giveaway program, but the need continues to grow. Glenn said the program is helping not only Lima residents but also people in surrounding communities. The donated air conditioners are provided to elderly residents and people with health conditions who are especially vulnerable during periods of extreme heat.

Glenn thanked everyone who has already contributed to the effort but said he continues to receive calls from hospitals, doctors and others seeking assistance for people in need.

“I have hospitals calling, I have doctors calling. We got so many people need them. I'm just asking everyone, could you show your hometown pride and help out? Continue helping out. I'm asking the social clubs, different organizations, please step up. We got until July the 27th. That's the end of it, July 27th,” says Derry Glenn, Lima’s 6th Ward councilman.

Those interested in donating or requesting additional information can contact Glenn at (419) 905-9572.
