LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The weather was just right on Saturday to head to the farmer's market for fresh local food.

There were 18 vendors to choose from at the Lima Farmer's Market, selling everything from dog bowties and treats to locally sourced vegetables, meat, and baked goods. With the Produce Perks program, WIC and EBT funds can be used to buy certain foods, and the market will match each dollar you spend up to $30.

This is the first year it's been held on Cable Road near Racer Station, and organizers say that thanks to the new location, this season has been going great.

"We have plenty of space for parking, and on top of that, we have plenty of room for special activities and special events, for example, the food truck rally that we're doing here today. We've seen a huge increase in the number of people coming through the market. We're hearing great feedback from the community as well as the vendors," said Madelyn Downing, the market manager.

The Lima Farmer's Market is held every Saturday through September, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
