A lot has changed since 1899, when Memorial opened its original building under the name "Lima City Hospital." They've changed locations, starting out in a two-story brick home located where Lima Senior High School stands today. In its first year of operation, Lima City Hospital had 13 beds and served just over one hundred people. Since then, there's been drastic growth in not only the number of patients they can serve but also the technologies available, like robotic imaging and surgeries.

"Today kicks off our internal celebration for our 125th anniversary, and following this, another pivotal part in our history is when we reestablished our hospital here on today's current site. And on Memorial Day, we dedicated Lima City Hospital to Lima Memorial Hospital, so we'll be celebrating that event as well with a rededication," said Lynn Carpenter, vice president and chief operating officer at Lima Memorial Health System.
