Lima Senior hosts career day for sophomores

Some Lima high school students had the chance to see what may be available for them once they graduate from school.

Lima Senior hosted a career opportunity event for their 10th graders. Vendors from both local businesses as well as colleges and universities set up booths to show what they had to offer for the students. The goal behind the event was to give the sophomores the chance to start thinking about a career and figuring out what may work best with them once they enter the workforce as adults.

"A lot of sophomores believe that hospitals just have doctors and nurses, but they don’t know all of the behind-the-scenes things that are going on there, and the same way goes for all of the businesses," said Wanda Miller, career tech coordinator for Lima City Schools. "We want them to be cognizant of everything that’s available, and we want them exposed to all the pathways sometime early on in their high school career."

Around 40 vendors were there for the career day.
