The Japanese Garden was a gift from Lima's Sister City Harima-Cho, Japan, full of weeping cherry trees. You can find the garden across the river from the Lima YMCA. It serves as a symbol of friendship between the two cities. This Saturday, the Sister City Association is preparing a site at the park for some special pieces of art.

Sandra Liechty, VP of Lima Sister City Association says, "We will be digging trenches to pour concrete footers that will secure this beautiful Japanese Lantern and this wonderful granite bowl with the beautiful round black stones in it. These are very traditional Japanese art pieces and they will enhance the Japanese Garden that we have been working on for twenty years."

A group will gather at noon Saturday, June 4th for a groundbreaking to dig those footers. The group hopes to continue to add flowers and art to the garden to increase its beauty. The public is invited to attend.
