Women around the area are getting a chance to learn how to defend themselves.
Wednesday evening, The Lima Family YMCA held a 3-hour self-defense class for women around the area led by GreyFox Defense. The class taught how to recognize potential threats and situational awareness consideration, provided hands-on techniques designed to protect from attacks and get away from a threat, as well as teaching offensive, and defensive moves both standing and when on the ground. These lessons learned will lead to invaluable skills if ever needed in the future.
Aaron Rode, lead instructor for GreyFox Defense said, “Sometimes we have a higher crime rate, there is a lot of scare tactics going on right now, especially with social media and ‘Hey I got followed in Meijer or Walmart, or the Kohl’s parking lot.’ So, we love to instill this confidence in women and kind of give them a nice tool set they can use if they unfortunately run into one of those circumstances.
