Live video arraignments at Lima Municipal Court

The Lima Municipal Court is taking a different approach when doing criminal arraignments.

Lima Municipal Court Judge Tammie Hursh says they will be using a wireless system for live video arraignments. She says there will be an iPad in the courtroom and in the sheriff's department. Prisoners will be brought in to the sheriff's department where they will be able to talk to the judge via Facetime. The video will then be streamed live in the courtroom using AirDrop. Hursh says it's cost effective and improves safety for both the court and jail staff.

Hursh says their first live video arraignment went well and defendants seemed more comfortable.
