A newly-created position at the Allen County Sheriff's Office will work to create outreach programs with the community and build a stronger internal organization.
Sergeant Andre McConnahea has been named the department's public information officer. He has worked full-time at the sheriff's office since 2007. As the new PIO he'll be responsible for overseeing media relations and social media platforms. McConnahea will also be working with the public and designing a bi- annual newsletter.
"We want people to understand what goes on here on a daily basis. We want people to feel comfortable calling us and knowing they're going to get information that they need and know that it's accurate. We want people to know what our strengths are and what our limitations are. Sometimes we have people that maybe have some unrealistic expectations from our office and then there are things we could do better," commented McConnahea.
McConnahea say's they're also restructuring their internal awards and compliance programs.
