LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Mercy Health St. Rita’s is once again encouraging the community to get moving while learning more about their health through its monthly “Walk With a Doc” program.
February’s walk will focus on heart health and is scheduled for Valentine’s Day, highlighting the importance of cardiovascular wellness. Participants will have the opportunity to speak with a resident physician about heart-related topics while walking indoors at the Lima Family YMCA.
“Heart health is vitally important to overall well-being,” said Catherine Sevitz, community health coordinator at Mercy Health St. Rita’s. “There are various chronic diseases that stem from not having a healthy heart, so even learning a small tidbit about how you can make positive changes toward your heart health can have a significant impact.”
Walk With a Doc will take place Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Lima Family YMCA, beginning at 9 a.m. The event is free, open to the public, and does not require a YMCA membership or advance registration.
Organizers say the program is designed to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where people can ask questions, stay active and learn practical ways to improve their heart health.
