LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Students and staff from Lima's Catholic schools weren't about to let a little rain stop them on Friday.

They walked the halls to make their way outside for the annual Positive Addiction Fun Run. Friends and family lined the streets around St. Charles school as the kids stepped off, going at their own pace, but all with a goal of highlighting positive addictions. They were cheered on and fired up by guest speaker, Jeff Carconette, who overcame a terrible car crash at age 17 that put him in a coma for two and a half months.

He says he had a choice to make when he was told he would never have a normal life. "I didn't want to accept that, and I pushed beyond other people's limitations to achieve what I wanted to achieve," and said Carconette. "I'm trying to teach the young people that they can achieve what they want to achieve if they just don't listen to other people."

The Positive Addiction program began at St. Charles back in 1983 by retired teachers Mary Brinkman and Diana Ireland. It received a copyright and was recognized at the White House by former First Lady Nancy Reagan.
