LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Being a teenager isn’t what it used to be, as expectations and demands at school and home have changed over the years.

With just about a year under its belt, Youth Connect 4 Mental Health, a local nonprofit, focuses on connecting area youth who may be struggling with their mental health to resources that can help. Executive Director Yvonne Jones recently spoke with the Lima Kiwanis Club about how YC4MH can make a difference for area youth ages 11 to 19.

Nonprofit helps area youth navigate mental health challenges

Jones said, “After about 30 years of just working around young people, I started listening to them, and I realized that they were walking around in torment and trauma silently, and they wouldn't say anything or share. But after listening to their stories, they needed help, and they really didn't know how to navigate their mental health journey.”

YC4MH meets monthly. More information can be found online at yc4mh.org.
