OBETZ, Ohio (WLIO) — The high school cross country season wrapped up at Fortress Obetz with the 2025 state championships, and several local runners made their mark on the big stage.

We’ll start with the first-ever Division IV races — and the girls’ field delivered some familiar names on the podium.

Fort Loramie’s Elaine Borchers finished 13th overall with a time of 18:58, while Minster’s Claire Bohman cracked the top 10, placing 10th at 18:48. The Wildcats added to their impressive legacy, finishing as Division IV state runner-ups as a team.

On the boys’ side, Russia’s Samuel Phlipot placed 18th, while Columbus Grove’s Holden Hartzog and Caiden Squillante finished 21st and 11th, respectively — helping the Bulldogs capture the Division IV state runner-up trophy.

History was made at the top of the podium — Crestview’s Lincoln Smith led the Knights to their first-ever state title, marking the first time two NWC schools finished first and second at state.

Moving to Division III — Kenton’s Addi Manns continued her stellar season, placing sixth with a time of 18:32.

In the boys’ race, Liberty-Benton’s Aiden Lee clocked 15:40, finishing 12th, while Versailles’ Jackson Spitzer and Tony Moorman weren’t far behind in 13th and 16th.

And wrapping up in Division II — Celina’s Jennalee Dameron crossed the line in 18:27, good for 11th place and another strong showing for the Bulldogs.
