LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The UNOH softball team battled Aquinas in a Saturday doubleheader, earning a split thanks to a strong performance in game one.
With the score tied 2-2 in the fourth inning, Hailee Edgell came through in the clutch. With the bases loaded, she lined a single into center field to bring home Dominique Baker and give the Racers a 3-2 lead.
UNOH kept the momentum going moments later. Morgan Piotrovsky added a base hit to left field, allowing Tayler Braun to score and extend the lead to two.
In the fifth, Edgell delivered again, reaching on a fielder’s choice as Lanie Wooten crossed the plate to make it 5-2.
Wooten also handled things in the circle. The sophomore tossed a complete game, striking out four to keep Aquinas in check.
The Racers went on to win game one 6-2, but couldn’t complete the sweep, falling 9-6 in the second game to settle for a split.
