Ohio Department of Agriculture holds free pesticide collection in Putnam County

Harmful pesticides can be a nuisance for farmers and expensive to get rid of.

That’s why the Ohio Department of Agriculture holds a free disposal program every year in West Central Ohio. Tuesday they set up at the Ohio State Extension in Putnam County.

Drop offs were free for anyone needing to dispose of unwanted farm chemicals.

Greg Minor of Ohio Department of Agriculture said that it’s a great way to make your farm safer and more environmentally friendly.

“Any pesticides at all. A pesticide is anything that’s used to mitigate a pest. So it can be anything from the old DDTs to atrazines to even turf care products, but most of it is going to be your row crop-type products old animal care-type products," said Minor.

Minor said if you missed this one, anyone can dispose of products at any of the pop-up disposal sites around the state.
