LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Artspace/Lima is trying a new event to give emerging artists a chance to exhibit their work.
The "Open Wall" exhibit is a first-come, first-served opportunity to get a 6 x 6 space in the Ellen Nelson Gallery. The goal is to foster artistic expression and community engagement. There are 20 spaces available, and the organizers hope that they will fill up quickly. The work will be exhibited from July 9th through the 19th and is open to any artist looking to exhibit their work and have their 15 minutes of fame.
"It will just be a collection of everybody who has their 15 minutes or an inspiration of something they maybe would like to do. So we would like to offer that opportunity to anyone who hasn't had their work in. And then we're going to have an open mic night. So we have a lot of spontaneous work and action going on," explained Sally Windle, executive director of ArtSpace/Lima.
Intake for artwork is June 25th through 29th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Again, it's open at no cost to the first 20 artists. The opening reception is July 9th, and the exhibit remains until July 19th. You can find the show prospectus at artspacelima.com.
