LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A local state representative is ready to jump chambers to work in the Ohio Senate.
78th District Representative Susan Manchester filed to run for the 12th District Senate seat this morning. Manchester has been in the Ohio House since 2018 and has represented residents in Auglaize, Shelby, Mercer, Darke, and recently Allen County, which are 5 of the 7 counties that make up the 12th Senate District. The Republican lawmaker says she would like to continue working for the people in efforts like cutting taxes, eliminating red tape for businesses, and standing up for human life.
"I have really enjoyed my time in the Ohio House working on issues that are very important to my constituents. Making sure that I am representing the values that are present here in the 12th Senate District," says Manchester. "I have also had a number of accomplishments, including creating the Ohio Youth and Family Ombudsman office for our foster youth. Also creating the Beginning Farmer Tax Credit program to help folks with their family farms."
The 12th District Senate seat is currently held by Matt Huffman, who filed to run next year for Manchester's 78th State Representative seat. The 2024 primary election will be held on March 19th.
