Rhodes State College holds Career Day

Rhodes State College saw a little extra foot traffic December 15th.

Around 1,700 students from dozens of area high schools flooded the Rhodes State campus Friday to learn more about work fields that interest them during the college's annual Career Day. The group mostly consisting of juniors spent their morning attending 30 minute informational sessions where they had the chance to ask questions to professionals in that industry. Director of Career Development Krista Richardson says that for many students, it's not just a peak into future career options as many students also go their first look at a college campus.

"Many of them have never been on a college campus before," says Richardson. "So it's an opportunity for them to come and explore a college campus and then to also attend sessions that are of  career interest to them and find out what a typical day is like; what education requirements would be a benefit to them, what the pay scale might be like, and what they can do now to prepare for that career in the future."

Richardson says on Career Day students have the option of picking from almost every field of study Rhodes has to offer.
