COLUMBUS, OH (WLIO) - Education, medical marijuana, and budget will be the hot topics at the start of the 135th General Assembly.
Senate President Matt Huffman expects that he and his colleagues will get the ground running on a large amount of talking points, from medical marijuana in the state of Ohio to balancing out budget concerns, but one topic that Huffman expects will be discussed early regards education and providing access to the State Board of Education.
"I think some of the things coming out of the chute will be this how we run education K-12. The way I view this is essentially, there is this giant thorn bush that is the state board of education and the department of education and most people in the public don't really have any access to that," said Senate President Matt Huffman.
Huffman also stated that he would like to discuss options to get more representation in state education to meet the needs of different districts.
