ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — A matchup featuring two deep postseason teams from last season ended in a decisive win for Spencerville on Tuesday night, as the Bearcats defeated Elida 55–36 behind a dominant start and an 18-point performance from senior Owen Sensabaugh.
Spencerville opened the game with a surge, turning defense into offense early. After a steal and quick outlet pass, Jude Stemen finished in transition to put the Bearcats on the board. Moments later, Sensabaugh pushed the tempo and scored on a smooth finger roll, prompting an Elida timeout as Spencerville jumped out to a 10–0 lead.
Elida broke through on a well-executed inbounds play, with Brody Altenbach banking in a layup to get the Bulldogs on the board. Jonan Snyder later added an easy finish in transition as Elida attempted to claw back into the game.
But the Bearcats maintained control throughout the night. Sensabaugh continued to attack the basket, converting an up-and-under layup high off the glass as Spencerville kept its momentum with strong defense and efficient scoring. He finished with a game-high 18 points.
Spencerville improves to 1–0 with the victory, while Elida drops to 0–3 to begin the season.
