On Sunday morning one area church celebrated 100 years in the Lima community. St. Mark's United Methodist Church held a special service for its 100th anniversary. The district superintendent gave a special sermon about the church's history.
The church was formed back in the spring of 1919 by a group of women called the Lima Mission Society. The first meeting had a total of 90 women and men. Over the years the church evolved and has changed locations several times.
The church pastor says he's happy to celebrate the church's history and hopes to do more.
“We’ve done a different celebration every month,” said Ted Bible, the church pastor. “So we’ve actually been celebrating all year. Today is just the day that we picked in October to kind of bring it to, not a climax because we still have some other ideas for November and December.
