LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima man remains in critical condition after being shot earlier today just north of the city.

Allen County deputies called out to the 2000 block of North West Street at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Allen County deputies called out to the 2000 block of North West Street at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Scanner traffic said the victim was shot in the arm and leg near Bill's Drive-Thru. The suspect took off after the shooting towards the Brower Road Apartments and authorities say he was arrested a short time later.

The suspect took off after the shooting towards the Brower Road Apartments and authorities say he was arrested a short time later.

The suspect, 20-year-old Jeremiah Washington of Lima, is being held on felonious assault charges at the Allen County Jail. The victim was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita's by American Township EMS.


July 17, 2024, Press Release from the Allen County Sheriff's Office: Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at approximately 9:31AM, deputies responded to the 2000 block of N. West Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they found one victim, who suffered two gunshot wounds and was transported to Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center by American Township EMS. The victim’s injuries are critical, but considered non-life threatening. The suspect had fled the scene but was taken into custody a short while later.

Taken into custody was Jeremiah Washington (age 20, DOB: 07/02/2004) of Lima. He is being held in the Allen County Jail on felonious assault charges. 

This investigation is ongoing.
