Teen sent to prison for obstructing Findlay murder investigation

A 19 year old is sent to prison for interfering with the police investigation of a Findlay woman's murder.

As part of a plea deal, Judge Reginald Routson sentenced Zachary Brooks to prison for a total of four years. He pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice and was given two year sentences on both charges to be served back to back.

According to court documents, Brooks along with other family members, hindered the investigation into the death of Vera Jo Reigle. Brooks was also accused of intimidating a person who had information about Reigle's death. As part of the plea agreement, Brooks spoke with Findlay detectives about the murder case earlier in the day. He is also expected to cooperate in the prosecution of Daniel Bixler and Nicole Peters who are accused of killing Reigle in March. Brooks is the father of Reigle's young daughter.

Cheri Brooks, Zachary Brooks' mother and his brother, Michael Brooks, have pleaded guilty to obstructing justice as well. They have yet to be sentenced.

Shannon Brooks, Zachary Brooks' sister in law, is scheduled for a plea hearing on Friday.
