SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP (WLIO) - It's the season of giving as several Shawnee township neighborhoods were lit up with Christmas lights for the community to enjoy.
The Indianbrook, Wildbrook, and Timberfield neighborhoods all took part in the annual "Shawnee Luminary Night."
You can see all the holiday spirit on full display as the community continues to count down the days till Santa and his Reindeer arrive, while also participating in a great cause.
Volunteers collected canned goods and other items along with money donations for the West Ohio Food Bank to make sure that everyone can enjoy a nice meal for the holiday season.
"We been doing it for a long time. We probably raised over 7,000 meals already, maybe closer to 8. The tradition was started by John Clements, the original Basement Doctor up here, and we kept it going for these many years," added Steve Dye, Volunteer from The Basement Doctor.
In the areas served by the West Ohio Food Bank, 1 in 10 people face hunger with 1 of every 9 of those people being a child.
