LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - The Ohio Blitz are getting ready for a new season of indoor football. The players are from Northwest Ohio and play 8-on-8 football in the Winter Indoor Football league against teams from Pittsburgh, New York, and the East Coast.

The league helps some football players continue playing after high school and college and maybe find their way into playing professionally.

The team plays their home games in Rossford, Ohio, but they practice in Lima and in Toledo to get ready for their season. Indoor football combines speed with a smaller field, which creates a lot of action.

“Once they hit the line of scrimmage, it’s like magic happens. That’s where the magic happens at. You got guys flying over the wall; you got guys hitting people over the walls. You got the quarterbacks getting sacked like regular football. It’s just a whole bunch of chaos, but organized chaos,” says Harley Watkins, Player & Co-Owner, Ohio Blitz.

“A lot of the NFL guys that don’t get to go to the NFL, they have to play somewhere. So, anytime we have D1 colleges or NFL guys that are not getting signed, they come right down to our league,” says Watkins.

The cost to watch the Ohio Blitz is $10 a person; kids 6 and under are free. Their first game is October 26th against the Eastern Shore at the Total Sports Complex in Rossford, Ohio. You can find out more about the Ohio Blitz by going to their Facebook page.
