For years universities have relied on traditional job fairs as a way to help students market their skills. But UNOH is putting a twist on this traditional event.

On Wednesday the University of Northwestern Ohio hosted its annual reverse career and internship fair. Throughout the fair, students showcased their skills through the help of poster boards, resumes, laptops, and other materials.

Students also had the opportunity to network with area employers from fields like marketing, business administration, and healthcare.

One student says preparing for this event wasn't as easy as she thought, but once she got started things began to fall in place.

“I did a lot of research online because I didn’t know what to put on my board, but once I did my research online and talked to, Nicole Niemeyer, who is in charge of all of this I just instantly started putting everything together like off of my resume,” Diamond Williams, a healthcare student. “I needed to make it sparkle and pop out for everyone to notice me.”

Luckily Williams didn't have to prepare alone. She and other students went through a series of seminars that helped with resume writing and branding. The director of career services said events like these really help the students.

“It really helps give them the confidence to stand up and talk with employers," said Nicole Niemeyer, UNOH career services director. "I know that some students find it difficult to talk about themselves. So in an atmosphere like this, it just makes it a little bit more.”
