A local Red Cross volunteer is heading to South Carolina to help those that were affected by Hurricane Florence.
Ed Glossett from Van Wert is going as part of the Life Safety and Asset Protection team. Glossett had been a responder in past hurricanes and was a responder for Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria in 2017. He said the big thing to do when deployed is to look at the positive.
Glossett says, "The compassion that we have as volunteers, that we bring into disaster, throughout the communities. We just bring our red cross smiles with us and it brings a lot to the community that we're serving in the disaster area. For me personally, it's just the greatest feeling ever as a volunteer. No money accepted. No money needed. Just the experience of helping one another. Mankind."
The Red Cross is still working around the clock to provide shelter and food to those affected by Florence. The Red Cross is also looking for people who are willing to donate blood.
