VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO)Â -Â A great turnout for the Chocolate Walk in Van Wert on Friday.
Those who bought tickets were able to get chocolate at each station, or each business participating. The chocolate sweets varied from classic candy, to cheesecake, and even free coffee. Each person received a bag, free sweets, and information on the local businesses while enjoying the warmer weather. Not only were businesses receiving foot traffic, but the town benefited from the ticket proceeds.
"So what we do is, whatever we make, we put right back into the downtown. So, whether it's beautification, or it sets us up for another event, or it sets us up to improve the downtown and help the retails out," says Mitch Price, Executive Director of Historic Main Street Van Wert.
He adds that the tickets sold out, meaning that all 250 available were gone before the walk. He hopes the success of the event inspires the businesses in Van Wert to keep going during the cold, winter months.
