Allen County veterans will once again have the opportunity for some assistance this holiday season.
The Allen County Veteran's Service Commission is giving veterans a holiday voucher. It's a $30 voucher that can go toward purchasing a ham or turkey at Chief's Market. To apply, veterans can stop into the office located inside the courthouse on Main Street and bring with them a copy of their DD 214, proof of all household income for the last 30 days and all current utility bills. You must also be a resident of Allen County. The application should only take 10 minutes and you'll leave with your voucher.
"We need to thank our veterans. It's just a way of saying thank you for your service, happy holidays," said executive director, Tamara Wilson. "There are so many veterans that are out there that are struggling. It's just a way to give back so that they can at least have something nice for Christmas, a good meal."
Applications will be accepted from December 12 to 21. The office opens at 8:30 and closes at 3 in the afternoon.
