Wapak Solar Field Project

An $8 million dollar project results in 13,000 solar panels, and it comes at no cost to Wapakoneta. Wapakoneta residents came together for the opening ceremony of the city's solar panel project. The panels were installed by Solar Planet, who signed an agreement with the city of Wapakoneta to provide 3 megawatts of power at a fixed rate. The savings for the city will in turn trickle down to residents.

Solar Planet CEO, Charley Shin, was in attendance at Thursday's celebration and took time to shake hands and converse with city officials. Shin is excited to be working with Wapakoneta, and says he hopes to continue the relationship down the road.

Solar Planet maintains ownership of the property and the solar panels, and has agreed to keep up with weed and grass maintenance.
