The city of Wapakoneta, known for being first on the moon, accomplished another first on Friday.
The city welcomed its first Electric Vehicle charging station. The station, located at Blume Apartments, is now open to anyone who has an electric vehicle and needs a quick charge.
RJ Horwitz, Owner of LFR Ohio Properties, said that the station has already come to the aid for a traveling couple.
"We've actually had two people who are not from Wapakoneta, get stuck, if you will, within five miles of running out of their electrical charges," said Horwitz. "One from Ontario, Canada, in a new Rubicon Jeep Hybrid, they were on their way to Minnesota, so they stopped here for several hours. I know they made it into town and probably got a beer and something to eat."
