With the recent mild weather area farmers are keeping a close eye on their winter wheat.
Many area fields are seeing new growth of wheat.
During the winter the wheat crop is dormant but with the mild temperatures the growth is ahead of schedule and that could be a problem if there’s a major cold snap.
Extension agent Curtis Young says farmers shouldn’t get overly concerned about the temperature fluctuations unless there is a late season freeze.
