The series includes two 5K races and one 4-mile run, held during three separate festivals across Putnam County from August through October. Thanks to a partnership with Mercy Health, participants who complete all three races will receive a quarter-zip pullover.

When Landen Philpot passed away at less than three months of age from SIDS, his family would have no idea how his short time on Earth would help to provide education and scholarship opportunities for so many in the community. The SIDS Awareness 5K was started to honor Landen, whose father was an employee of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital at the time of Landen’s passing. Employees wanted a way to honor Landen and provide valuable education about SIDS to the community.

Registration is underway for one of the region's spookiest races. The Lima Kiwanis is hosting its annual Howl'oween Trick or Trot 5K and Mile Fun Run and Walk. It starts and finishes on the west side of Faurot Park, winding through Woodlawn Cemetery. The event proceeds go toward the Kiwanis student clubs that are building future leaders.
