LIMA, OH (WLIO) -Â Hundreds of people participated in Mercy Health's I PINK I CAN 5K on Saturday, October 21st, at St. Rita's Medical Center, the annual I Pink I Can 5K was held in honor of breast cancer awareness month. The event started with registration at 8:00 a.m., and the race began at 9:00 a.m. Medals were given to the top two males and females in eight different age groups. In addition, the top male and female walker received a medal and prizes for best pink attire. Proctor & Gamble employees were also present, offering free laundry detergent giveaways.
"We are having our second annual I PINK I CAN 5K for Breast Cancer Awareness. We have about 360 participants today, and it's just to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. Everyone from the community is involved and invited to join in the fun event." stated Aimee Kuhlman, Director of EVS/Linen and Patient Transport.
Each person paid $5 for entry, with proceeds going towards the hospital's fight against cancer.
