Putnam County Running Series promotes fun, fitness and community

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) – Runners, get ready. The Putnam County Running Series is returning and organizers are inviting people to join in the fun.

The series includes two 5K races and one 4-mile run, held during three separate festivals across Putnam County from August through October. Thanks to a partnership with Mercy Health, participants who complete all three races will receive a quarter-zip pullover.

The series is making a comeback after a hiatus, aiming to promote health and community spirit in the region.

“We really wanted to revive it, because we saw a great turnout in all three races that were historically part of the running series. So now, with hopes of reviving it, we're going to bring out more people to the community, kind of reinitiate some heart healthy lifestyle, and just make sure people are coming out to have a good time. Each of these festivals are a great fundraiser for their local community, whether it be through church, the community, the park, etc. So it's really good to come out and support even if you're just watching or racing as well,” said Rachel Kahle, co-chair of the Glandorf Park Fest Turtle Trot.

The running series kicks off Aug. 30th with the Glandorf Park Fest Turtle Trot (5K), continues Sept. 5th with the Pioneer Friday Night 4 Miler, and concludes Oct. 18th with the Saints Peter and Paul Schools Foundation 5K.

Registration is $25 per race, or $69 to register for all three. To sign up click here: https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Ottawa/PutnamCountyRunningSeries
